Braised Beef with Tomato Sauce

I learned this recipe when I lived in Italy. It is simple recipe but it reminds me of “Italian mama’s taste.” The main ingredients are beef, a can of tomatoes and red wine.  When you have stew beef, try this recipe and you will love it.

Braised Beef with Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Stew meat (ramp block)

  • 1 TBS Olive oil

  • 1 large Can of tomato

  • 1 cup red wine

  • Salt pepper

  • 1 tsp flour

  • 1 TBS Butter

  • Pasta (for sides)

Directions

  • Cut the beef in half (or stew meat size if you like smaller), salt pepper generously and coat the beef in flour.
  • Heat a large (heavy) pan on high heat, put olive oil and brown the surface of beef quickly.
  • When the surface of the beef is cooked, add wine and the can of tomato. Mix well.
  • Bring it to a boil and simmer for 2 hours until tender. (You can cook more than 2 hours)
  • Cook pasta of your choice and eat with the braised beef.
  • Add sour cream or ricotta cheese if you like (It's good!).
