We traveled to England around the spring of 1988. At that time, England was not a gourmet country. A safe dish to try was “fish and chips” and beer. But breakfast was a different story. British breakfast is tasty and large.
Usually it contains, some kind of breakfast meat (sausages, ham, etc.), cooked eggs of your choice, (fried eggs, scramble, etc.), sautéed mushrooms, baked beans, fried tomatoes, blood pudding (sausage contains pig blood) and toast.
If I had Instagram and smart phone at that time, I would definitely upload the photos.
Fried tomatoes go great with the sautéed mushrooms and eggs.
I sometimes make this full menu English breakfast at home. Give it a try. You will be super full for the morning.
My husband’s mother was British. Her breakfast was toast and English tea.
I like how he eats boiled eggs and he learned from his mother.
Cut off the top of a boiled egg (shell intact) with a knife . Then using a small spoon, you dig the egg out of the shell. It’s actually easier than peeling an egg.
My personal favorite is to dunk skinny toast slices into the soft boiled egg. It’s fun to eat like this.
