Scalloped potatoes are “potato gratin.” To reduce cooking (baking) time, slice the potatoes very thin. Use a vegetable slicer if you have one. Make cheese sauce, mix with potatoes, and finished them in the oven.
If you do not want to make cheese sauce, you can do it simple way – put potatoes in an oven safe dish, pour milk and whipping cream and add cheese on top. Bake it in the oven.

Ingredients
1largeYellow potato (or 2 small ones)
1TBSButter
1tspflour
1cupMilk
1/2Shredded cheese
1tspchicken stock flakes
Salt Pepper
Directions
Make Cheese sauce: Melt butter in a med size pot, add flour and sauté 1 min. Add milk and keep stirring over low to med heat until the sauce gets slightly thicker. Add cheese and chicken stock. Salt Pepper to taste. Set aide.
Wash potato and slice thin using a vegetable slicer.
In a flat ovenware, lay potato slices and pour cheese sauce.
Bake in the 350 degree oven about 20 mins until golden brown.
